This article contains spoilers from Avengers: Infinity War, so I highly advise you to watch the movie first before reading.

One of the biggest movie series, Avengers, is coming to an epic conclusion with the fourth and final movie Avengers: Endgame. The Marvel fans have been waiting for this movie since the ending of Avengers: Infinity War. Most fans, including me, are asking a big question: What’s next for our heroes?

The trailer for Avengers: Endgame was released on December 7, 2018. Within 24 hours the trailer had 289 million views making it the most viewed trailer in history! Fans all around the world are now anxiously waiting for April 26, 2019 for the movie to hit theaters. After the trailer was released, a variety of theories clouded the air of what could happen in the movie.

One theory is that Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, will be the one to defeat Thanos. This theory started when the post credit scene of Avengers: Infinity War showed Nick Fury calling someone asking for help before he faded into ash. With the movie Captain Marvel hitting theaters on March 8, 2019, fans can assume that the post credit scene may hint to Carol Danvers helping the Avengers in the final movie.

Another theory is that time travel will somehow be involved to bring everyone who died back to life and to defeat Thanos. In Avengers: Infinity War Doctor Strange uses the Time Stone to see all the possibilities and chances the Avengers have to win. He said that there was only one possible way for them to win and that was letting Thanos get all the Infinity Stones. Fans think that the remaining Avengers will somehow get the Time Stone and use it.

Speaking of Infinity Stones, a theory that involves the Soul Stone is up in the air. Thanos traded Gamora’s soul for the power of the Soul Stone: “A soul for a soul.” Some fans argue that Gamora’s soul is trapped in the Stone and that she will try to use that to help defeat Thanos. Also, many fans think that the heroes who died are trapped in the Soul Stone as well, but others argue that the dead heroes are in the Quantum Realm.

The final theory, and most heartbreaking, is that some of the original Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Thor) might die permanently. Marvel had leaked a hint of the ending that said it might end happily but also might have a heartbreaking consequence. I sincerely hope this theory doesn’t come true. I love these characters and have grown up with them, so saying goodbye to them would certainly tear my heart in two.

There are still some questions that fans ask, however: How did Ant-Man get out of the Quantum Realm? Are the heroes who died gone permanently? What will happen to the original six? Who will win: Thanos or the Avengers?

There are many theories, many questions. But one thing is certain: Our heroes will forever be with the Marvel fans.
