March Madness is the time of annual NCAA college basketball tournament held for the most part throughout the month of March. This years March Madness began March 19, 2019 with 68 teams from across the country facing off. Throughout the tournament there was many upsets and great games Villanova, Virginia , and Duke were the top 3 projected teams to win the tournament with all three teams coming off a pretty solid regular season, despite those stellar regular season games only one of the three teams would proceed to make it to the National Championship. Villanova was eliminated from the tourney in a second round loss to Purdue. Duke was also eliminated from the tournament with a one point nail-biter to loss Michigan State in the sweet sixteen.

Virginia who was projected 2nd to win it all, with 13 percent of Americans hauling for them made it to the National Championship this year to face off against Texas Tech. This was really special for Virginia after coming off a dramatic loss last year, being ranked a 1st seed and highly projected to win it and losing in the first round. This year they came for vengeance hauling their way through the playoffs. They shot 45% from the floor and 45% from the three, they out- rebounded, assisted and out-shot their Texas Tech counterparts .

When interviewing students throughout CASHS they seemed to be fairly satisfied with March Madness, 10th grader Xavier Trawick states ” March Madness was really good this year, even though the my team didn’t when I was really satisfied with the outcome and the thrills throughout, I expected duke to win but it is what it is”. This seemed to be the feeling throughout CASHS, no one expecting Virginia to win but no one entertained by this spectacular tournament
