Hanukkah is According to the world dictionary, Maccabees, the celebration of Hanukkah was instituted by Judas Maccabeus in 165 BCE to celebrate his victory over Antiochus IV Epiphanes, the Seleucid king who had invaded Judaea,  Commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. Hanukkah is a very popular celebration for Jewish people. It is an eight day celebration that starts this Sunday, December 22nd and ends Monday December 30th. Also the American tradition of Christmas which is only a one day thing and is held on December 25th celebrating the rebirth of Jesus Christ, Hanukkah on the other hand Is eight days like mentioned before and each year it’s a different date. Each day a Jewish person blows out one of the eight total candles. Also each day a gift is given to someone, along with that each day the gifts get bigger and more extravagant. During Hanukkah there’s a lot of fun during the week such as playing a game called dreidel where it’s basically a game where there are coins involved and you spin the dreidel until someone ends up with all the coins. Finally During Hanukkah there are plenty of good food traditions such as potato latkes and jelly donuts and obviously way more
